Now that I have my little corner of the internet to voice my thoughts and experiences, and having faced my anxiety head-on to take my goddaughter on her first holiday, it’s time to share a little more…
Do you know somebody who has a fear of flying? Does it stop them from going to places that they have dreamed of?
Believe it or not, I can completely relate to this. Yes, I am a travel agent who has struggled for several years with an irrational fear of flying.
Leading up to holidays, I often found myself considering that it would just be easier to cancel them. The tears, the sleepless nights, and the flights on which I all but hyperventilated throughout the journey before the rush of relief on landing.
My ever-patient husband finally convinced me that letting this fear overshadow our wonderful holidays had to stop, and I needed to seek solutions.
Virgin Atlantic, with whom I was working at the time, provided a fear of flying course (on the ground obviously!).
I did some therapy and work on myself over subsequent years, and though not completely cured, touch wood, I have been much better!
So, why am I telling you this?
Because I understand that there are others like me, and I want you to know that whatever thoughts and fears you may have, I get it.
Please be assured that I won’t think differently of you for opening up and telling me, and I will work with you to get you on that plane, and beyond. I will even celebrate your accomplishments with you afterwards.
We will take it one step at a time, making sure you know exactly what to expect, and I will ensure the whole process is as easy as possible.
I will check you in, book a fast track through the airport, get you into a lounge to relax before the flight and notify the airline before travel.
I’ve been there and I am here to help.
